What makes Rosalique gentle on the skin - Our 5 active ingredients explained

Finding make up or skincare products that work for eczema-prone skin can be tricky. Most people have heard about eczema, but few truly understand just how painful and difficult this complex long-term skin condition can be. And it's not just the skin dryness, itchiness and discomfort - eczema can be a very noticeable condition, which can really knock someone's confidence.

Although Rosalique is not a cure for eczema, our 5 active ingredients (Zeolite, Urea, Alpha-Bisabolol, Panthenol (Provitamin B5) and Shea Butter) are incredibly gentle on the skin. The combination of this and Rosalique's redness-neutralising yet light coverage makes Rosalique one of the most suitable cosmetic/make-up products for people with eczema or dermatitis.

Whilst Rosalique can usually be worn on its own, we do recommend in these specific cases to include other products in your skincare routine that can help manage the eczema. We’d recommend for instance the Bioskin DermaSerum Face Moisturiser from our sister company Salcura, as well as the Bioskin Face Wash (which you can find here). Both these products, just like Rosalique, are natural, gentle and moisturising, and deemed very suitable for sensitive skin and skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis. Using these products regularly will massively help with the way Rosalique sits on eczema-prone skin, and will make sure you get the best possible outcome from using the product.

Back to Rosalique itself - we’d like to tell you a bit more about our 5 active ingredients and how they can improve your skin, whether you suffer from eczema or not.

1) Panthenol (Provitamin B5)

When applied to the skin Panthenol converts to pantothenic acid, which gets easily absorbed and penetrates deep into the lower layers of the skin. Panthenol is the Provitamin of B5 and works as a humectant by infusing water in the cells, attracting and locking moisture within the skin tissues. Clinical research has found that when regularly used over a period of four weeks or more, Panthenol acts as an effective anti-inflammatory, relieving systemic itching, whilst also helping to soothe dry and red, irritated skin.

2) Shea Butter

Extracted from the nut of the African Shea tree, Shea Butter contains skin healing and moisturising properties which help to reduce inflammation and calm the skin. It is rich in Vitamin A & F, both of which are known to support the treatment of red atopic skin conditions. Shea Butter also contains Tocopherol, otherwise known as Vitamin E, which is both a nutrient as well as an antioxidant. Vitamin E neutralises free radicals that can damage skin cells. Research shows that long term use of Shea Butter can significantly heal skin damage and improve skin moisture contents.

3) α-Bisabolol

Extracted from the German Chamomile plant, Alpha-Bisabolol is a clinically proven anti-inflammatory, reducing redness and helping to calm and soothe red skin. Additionally, Alpha-Bisabolol can help the skin to absorb other active ingredients such as Urea and Zeolite more effectively. Furthermore, due to its perceived skin-healing properties, Bisabolol can aid in skin regeneration and skin repair.

4) Zeolite

A natural volcanic mineral widely appreciated and used for its unique abilities to support the skin in multiple ways. Zeolite is a proven and highly effective mineral that will bind and remove toxins and heavy metals, that are found in the environment and automatically get absorbed by the skin. Often these toxins are the leading cause of skin redness and irritation. Additionally, Zeolite has immunological balancing properties that make it effective for itch and irritation reduction. Lastly, Zeolite soothes any skin redness and is known to reduce and calm the skin.

5) Urea

A naturally occurring substance found in the surface layer of the skin, which functions to keep skin hydrated, protected and working efficiently. Urea is extremely hydrophilic, which means it holds onto water molecules to keep skin moisturized. Urea additionally acts as a carrier for other ingredients, enabling them to better penetrate the skin and therefore providing the skin with the maximum healing properties. Lastly, Urea is known to calm itchy, inflamed and damaged skin and to repair and protect the skin against infections.

If you are on the lookout for gentle skincare and light coverage, Rosalique has got you covered. Not only does Rosalique conceal, it treats gently and protects the skin long-term too.
